And the food is all mouldy
From proletariat fear

Taut dramaturge fun
It’s Monday they cry
Has the week begun

Howie is in his castle
Dispensing the vision
But he can’t stop the mist fall
Or the people’s derision

Once was black brick and grey stone
Now glass, metal and light
Tricky Dick keeps smiling
But something’s not right

In the corridors of power
The shadows are long
And the hall of Dead Mayors
Echoes the song

Mother’s middle class bowler
Steed’s wilting carnation
The images are shifting
Sleep deprivation

You can’t feel your skin in this desperate place
It’s a Stockhausen Opera contrived for the masses
Your lungs are bleeding ….Black Bills ghost passes

Moving from working to middle
Even Smith is confused
Can’t find his way round the city
Taxi refused

They won’t cross the river
Salix is twisted
The towers are falling
Denouement resisted

100 years on
The mists have returned
Palpable fear
Images burned

Fog Fiend

Hiroshima shadows
The spirits all dance
Along Cross and down Market
It’s the subtle romance

Artistic indifference
